MARCEL GROMAIRE (1892-1971): THE ELEGANCE OF POWER

A son of northern France, Marcel Gromaire strove to establish a link between the expressionism of Flanders – in particular its proliferation and sombre pallet – and French cubism which fascinated him thanks to the rigorous nature of its constructions. Acknowledged for giving the art of tapestry a new lease of life, he left a very rich and immediately recognizable body of work. Designed in partnership with Honfleur and Sète Museums and benefiting from the exceptional support of the Paris Museum of Modern Art and the Galerie de la Présidence, the exhibition displays every facet of this humanist and socially-aware experience embodied in the visit of the La Piscine collections.
